Managing Tension and Conflict
Why Managing Tension and Conflict?
The art of negotiation and the ability to manage one’s emotions during crucial conversations is key in Leadership. Every negotiation generates a certain level of tension, as a result of competing interests and challenging collaborative relationships. The management of tension is critical not only throughout the negotiation and in respect to the final agreement, but even during its early stages that work as the “leading indicators” of profitable transactions.
Tension, if kept at the right levels, might function as a source of creativity, that significantly contributes to the formulation of an agreement that satisfies both parts. However, unresolved and deconstructive tension can seriously imped the generation of profitable solutions.
This workshop will teach you how to follow a 5 steps approach to successful negotiations, by maintaining your neutral composure, without giving up on your interests. After attending this workshop, you will be able to understand what tension is and what generates it and manage to control it by timely recognizing it and using the appropriate behavioral tools to leverage or resolve it accordingly.
You will learn to shift the focus of the negotiation on the potential value of it, effectively communicate your own proposal, accept the other parties’ frame of reference and finetune tension dynamics in business negotiations and in personal relationships.
