Inspiring an Executive Leader in the Renewable Energy Industry to Strengthen his Leadership Skills
THE CHALLENGE
A leader in the renewable energy industry faced difficulty in bringing his small, inexperienced team up to speed to handle a demanding pipeline of projects. He also felt the need to increase his influence and become capable of encouraging an “ownership” mentality to his team. At the same time, he realized that it would be beneficial for him to focus more on materiality and stop paying attention to the “noise”.
Thus, he decided to seek the professional support of an experienced Leadership Coach that could help him improve and excel in the domains that he needed to develop the most.
His expectations from the leadership coaching program were to cultivate the necessary soft skills that would allow him to influence change without imposing it, learn how to conquer his emotions and keep a “cool head” when facing setbacks beyond his control. He wanted to get ahold of his stress levels and stop piling on the pressure to resolve every problem that occurred. Lastly, he aimed to find what he had to change in order to gain the acceptance of his peers.
THE APPROACH
SARGIA Partners leadership coaching scheme “MASTERNOUSTM” followed a structured and systemic methodology and was exclusively designed to match the Executive’s personal and organizational development needs.
THE IMPACT
After the completion of the coaching sessions, the Executive admitted a significant improvement in the way he handled his personal and professional relationships, as he learned how to treat others uniquely, getting the best that they could offer without judging them if they failed to identify a solution that he could come up with. He also managed to approach conflicts in a much calmer & productive way, arguing politely and noticeably improving his composure. Moreover, he acknowledged that his control of destructive emotions had increased significantly, resulting in better focus and higher energy levels.
Overall, he enhanced characteristics and soft skills, such as patience, stamina, and active listening, while he strengthened his creative thinking ability.
IN HIS OWN WORDS:
“These coaching sessions have been valuable for me, as they made the integration process to my new team smoother and helped me get closer to my professional goals. Despite being an “outsider” to the organization and having had a bumpy ride at the beginning (almost at conflict with all peers) I managed to become accepted and be highly regarded. I achieved that mainly through allowing time to listen to their needs and adapting accordingly.
Very quickly I became a “focal” point in the organization, learning pretty much all that was happening. This allowed me to be better placed to understand and influence key corporate decisions.
Under my coach’s guidance I comprehended the importance of listening to my peers and subordinates more, while spending less time and energy in directing them. This allowed the implementation of a strong team that successfully tackled several deals, simultaneously maintaining a high success rate and adding value to our organization.”
