Combining CEO Coaching & Leadership Team Alignment to Support the Sustainable Restructuring of a Leading Travel Organization
THE CHALLENGE
A leading organization in the corporate travel and shipping services, was rapidly expanding through strategic partnerships and acquisitions. To support this growth and improve efficiency, the key shareholders made structural changes in both their leadership team and their internal operation system.
To safeguard the successful and sustainable course of this transformation, the key shareholders acknowledged the need to strengthen their interpersonal communication, define a clear and mutually embraced purpose and strategy, create a sustainable action plan, design and communicate the new roles and align their leadership team under a shared vision and value system.
SARGIA Partners was selected as the preferred partner for this leadership transformation journey, due to its proved effectiveness in designing custom made leadership development programs, adjusted to the strategic objectives of each client.
THE APPROACH
To successfully address the needs of this transformation SARGIA Partners designed and implemented a custom-made approach, that combined two of its proprietary solutions, the MASTERNOUSTM Coaching program and the Leadership Team Alignment (LTATM) program.
The first solution was offered to the key shareholders, who conducted individual and group coaching/advisory sessions to improve their personal mastery and reach a better interpersonal alignment.
The second solution was offered to their Leadership Team, enabling them to gain a clear understanding of their current performance and providing feedback to the shareholders, that was in turn used in order to align the leadership team towards a shared vision and develop a sustainable action plan for the future.
SARGIA Partners’ MASTERNOUS Coaching Program guided and supported the key shareholders to explore and define their success indicators and align as to their strategic intentions and commitments. On that ground, they redefined their personal leadership brand and they made the necessary mindset and behavioral shifts that would enable them to fulfill their potential and achieve breakthrough results.
Meanwhile, the leadership team members who joined the Leadership Team Alignment Program conducted individual and team assessments, followed by one-to-one Awareness Sessions that enabled them to get a good grasp of their team effectiveness, communication & collaboration challenges and dynamics.
The awareness sessions were followed by a two-day Workshop, that empowered and inspired the Leadership Team members to visualize & develop a shared vision for the years to come and set the goals and the strategies to achieve a holistic organizational transformation and growth. The team worked on their role definition, self-reflection and understanding of each other. They were able to strengthen their team identity, improve their communication and set a concrete action plan for the months to follow.
On the other end, the MASTERNOUSTM Coaching program enabled the key shareholders to achieve behavioral change and significantly increase their self-regulation. To monitor the program’s progress and evaluate its success, feedback was regularly received from the stakeholders. At the end of the program, all success indicators had been met, while the key shareholders had reestablished a solid interpersonal trust, a highly productive communication and an alignment towards a shared purpose and strategy that would safeguard the future of the organization.
The recalibration that was conducted to the leadership Team, 3 months after the end of the Workshop, also pointed out that the leadership team alignment was in track, supporting the leadership team members on the way forward.
THE IMPACT
The return on expectations was greater than expected I both cases.
On one hand, the key shareholders had managed to effectively collaborate throughout the transformational period, gaining a new perspective on the consolidation in process and acquiring a more strategic approach in transformation management.
The Leadership Team also acknowledged the added value of the LTA program. They had succeeded in identifying and embracing their future vision and values and they had developed a solid strategy with assigned task forces. They had committed to behavioral changes at a personal and team level, creating a new and more sustainable culture in the organization. More specifically, the team identity and empathetic communication had reached a record level of 80%. Ownership and accountability had significantly increased, and the team members were ready to embark on the transformation journey.
